  • Supermassive Black Hole

    This artist’s impression depicts a rapidly spinning supermassive black hole surrounded by an accretion disc. This thin disc of rotating material consists of the leftovers of a Sun-like star which was ripped apart by the tidal forces of the black hole.   • Cold Intergalactic Rain

  • The Quasar 3C 279

    This is an artist’s impression of the quasar 3C 279. Astronomers connected the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX), in Chile, to the Submillimeter Array (SMA) in Hawaii, USA, and the Submillimeter Telescope (SMT) in Arizona, USA for the first time, to make the sharpest observations ever, of the centre of a distant galaxy, the bright quasar 3C 279. Evaluasi pendidikan dijelaskan secara rinci oleh Abdul Basir. Ia menyebutkan bahwa evaluasi merupakan proses pengumpulan data informasi yang sifatnya deskriptif, prediktif, informatif dan dilaksanakan secara bertahap dan sistematik agar bisa digunakan untuk menentukan kebijaksanaan dalam upaya memperbaiki kualitas pendidikan. Lehman dan Mehrens juga menjelaskan tentang evaluasi pendidikan. Dimana mereka berpendapat bahwa evaluasi merupakan suatu proses untuk memperoleh, merencanakan, serta menyediakan data informasi yang dibutuhkan untuk menghasilkan alternatif-alternatif keputusan. Sementara Norman E. Gronlund (1976) berpendapat bahwa evaluasi merupakan proses yang dilakukan secara sistematis untuk membuat atau menentukan keputusan terkait dengan sejauh mana para siswa berhasil mencapai tujuan-tujuan pengajaran. Purwanto (2002) juga mengemukakan pendapatnya tentang evaluasi dalam pendidikan. Ia menyatakan bahwa pengertian evaluasi adalah penilaian yang dilakukan terhadap kualitas tertentu dalam dunia pendidikan. Evaluasi sangat berkaitan erat dengan keputusan dan kebijakan yang diberikan pemerintah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia. Hal tersebutlah yang membuat pemerintah semakin gencar memberikan pelatihan kepada para pendidik tanah air untuk bisa melakukan evaluasi kinerja terhadap pendidikan dan proses pengajaran yang selama ini berlangsung.
